What are the best destinations in Latin America for wildlife viewing?

Ecuador, Brazil and Peru are our top 3, though this is also possible everywhere from whales in Panama to penguins in Argentina & Chile.

This varies by destination, given the vast range of climates and seasons. You can get great wildlife experiences year-round in the Galapagos. In the Amazon, the high- and low-water season offer different advantages. In Brazil’s Pantanal, the dry months of May-September are idea.

This also varies. In the Galapagos and the Amazon of Peru & Brazil, you can expect world-class boats and land-based lodges, while in Brazil’s Pantanal the accommodations are comfortable but more modest luxury. In other places, accommodations are more modest but the wildlife is no less impressive!
